Synced by audio
Multicam is in the inspector of a main video clip. Click Add another camera, tick the other camera videos of the same take that are already in the project, then click Sync. The clip you selected becomes the master camera, and its sound becomes the reel's sound.
HookWise reads each camera's audio, measures how its loudness changes every 10 milliseconds, and finds the position that matches the master best. It then refines that position sample by sample over the busiest 8 seconds of the master recording. Each camera's result shows as an offset in seconds, such as +1.25 s. All of this runs on your computer and does not use Gemini.
Switching by hand or automatically
Play the timeline and press 1 to 9, or click a camera chip in the inspector. Camera 1 is always the master. The clip is cut at the playhead with a plain cut, and the rest plays the same moment from the camera you picked. With the playhead at the start of a clip, the whole clip is switched.
Auto switch (speaker) measures each camera's loudness every half second. Each camera is compared with its own usual level, so a quieter mic can still win. A new camera only takes over after leading for at least 2 seconds, so a cough or a short reply does not trigger a switch. HookWise then tells you how many angle cuts it made, and Cmd or Ctrl+Z undoes them.
What to prepare
Auto switch reads the mic level on each camera, so give each speaker their own mic, recorded on the camera that films them. When every camera only records the same room sound, the level differences are small and the angle choice can miss. Choosing angles from face detection is not available yet.
The offset search reaches up to 2 minutes between cameras, so start recording on all cameras close together. The reel's sound always comes from the master camera, including while another angle is on screen. Multicam clips cannot have their audio detached on the timeline yet. In the preview, switching angles opens the other camera's file, so playback can pause briefly at a switch.
